Restore from backup¶
The restore operation allows you to recover your data by creating a new database instance from a backup file. This is useful for disaster recovery, testing, or creating a copy of your production environment.
Prerequisites¶
- At least one successful backup exists for the source database.
- You have sufficient quota to create a new database instance.
- You have the necessary permissions to perform restore operations.
Restore to a new database¶
Restoring a backup creates a new database instance with the same data and configuration as the original at the time of backup.
- In the left navigation pane, click Backup under your database instance.
- Locate the backup you want to restore in the backup list.
- In the Actions column, click Restore.
-
On the Restore to a New Database page, configure the following settings:
Basic settings:
Parameter Description Restore From Backup The source backup file (automatically populated). Cloud Provider The cloud provider for the new database instance. Region The region where the new database instance will be deployed. Target Database Name Enter a name for the new database instance. The default name follows the pattern {original_name}_restore.Capacity settings:
Parameter Description Query Node Select the vCPU and RAM configuration for the query node (e.g., 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM × 1). Storage Node Select the vCPU and RAM configuration for the storage node (e.g., 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM × 3). Storage Size Per Node Configure the storage capacity for each node. The total storage size is calculated as: Storage per node × Number of nodes. Warning
If your configuration has reached the maximum limit for disk capacity, a warning message will be displayed. Please proceed with caution and consider adjusting your configuration if needed.
-
Review the Summary panel on the right side of the page, which displays:
- Database Tier
- Database Name
- Storage Size
- Capacity details
- Estimated Cost (hourly rate)
-
Click Restore to initiate the restore process.
Monitor restore progress¶
After initiating a restore, the new database instance will appear in your database list. The instance status will show the current progress of the restore operation. Once the restore is complete, the status will change to "Running" and the database will be ready for use.
Cost estimation¶
The restore operation creates a new database instance, which incurs charges based on the selected configuration. The estimated cost is displayed in the Summary panel before you confirm the restore operation.
Example cost breakdown:
- Configuration: 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM × 1 (Query Node) + 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM × 3 (Storage Node)
- Storage: 30 GB total
- Estimated cost: $0.199/hour (excluding network transfer fees and backup storage fees)
